UPPCC Board Elects Canadian Kathleen Muretti as Chair

UPPCC Board Elects Canadian Kathleen Muretti as Chair

Herndon, VA - August 2, 2018 - The Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) has elected Kathleen Muretti, CPPO, CPPB as the new Chair of the organization.  Muretti takes over for previous Chair Marcheta Gillespie, CPPO, CPPB, who stepped down in June as Chair subsequent to her retirement from public service.

Muretti has been serving the Board in a non-voting capacity since 2014, providing valuable input to the Board representing the Canadian perspective for UPPCC Certifications.  Muretti proudly holds both the CPPO and CPPB designations and will be the first Canadian in the organization’s history to be elected to lead the certifying body.

Muretti is a Manager & Procurement Special Advisor with the City of Airdrie, Alberta and past-President of the Canadian Public Procurement Council (CPPC). Muretti currently serves as the CPPC Strategic Relations Representative sitting on the National Council for Public Procurement and Contracting (NCPPC) and as an Evaluation Committee member for the National Procurement Institute’s Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award.

“The Board remains focused on our fundamental strengths and how to be best positioned for the future by defining what changes, enhancements, improvements and perhaps program expansion will align certifications with the needs of the profession. As Chair, I feel very fortunate to collaborate with this amazing group of dedicated professionals in our shared determination to meet the strategic goals that have been set. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chair and hope to maintain the momentum of leadership that was established by Marcheta,” says Muretti.

The Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) is an independent entity formed to govern and administer the Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) and Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) certification programs. The CPPO and CPPB programs are highly regarded and respected among procurement professionals and employers involved in the public sector. To date, the UPPCC has certified well over 10,000 professionals primarily within the US and Canada as well as in other nations around the globe.
