Volunteer
The UPPCC hopes that you will continue your commitment to excellence after
becoming recertified. Below are a few volunteer opportunities available to you
as a certified individual, each of which will earn you points towards
recertification under Category A: Professional Contributions.
Current volunteer opportunities:
CPPO Oral Panelist
Individuals who are CPPO certified and would like to volunteer as a member of a
CPPO Oral Panel should contact Charles Tedesco, CPPO, Certification Analyst at
UPPCC Headquarters.
CPPO Oral Panelists are needed in a variety of areas across the US and in
Canada and three volunteers are required for each panel.
Panelists are not financially compensated for their participation on an oral
panel and any expenses incurred are not reimbursable. However each panelist
will receive .5 point toward UPPCC Recertification for each oral examination
they conduct. A maximum of three (3) points is permitted for each five-year
period.
To volunteer as a CPPO Oral Panelist, the individual must be CPPO certified for
a minimum of twelve (12) months prior to volunteering and in good standing with
the UPPCC.
UPPCC Item/Question
Writer
Think back to when you took your certification examination. Did you wonder
where those exam questions came from? Who wrote them? How were they written?
Examination questions for both the Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO)
and Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) are written by your peers.
Public purchasing professionals like yourself write and review all UPPCC
examination questions. If your interested in giving back to the certification
you worked so hard to achieve, volunteer your time as an Item/Question Writer.
Face-to-face Item/Question Writing Opportunities
All currently certified individuals are contacted via email or letter prior to
each face-to-face Item/Question Writing session to solicit participation. Session details
vary, but CPPB's and CPPO's who participate earn 2 full points under Catergory
A: Professional Contributions towards UPPCC Recertification.
Web-based Item/Question Writing Opportunities
The UPPCC offered a Webinar Training to provide interested CPPOs and CPPBs instruction on how to write questions for the new exams slated for launch in the Fall of 2008.
