UPPCC Board of Directors Congratulates Don Buffum, CPPO

Herndon, VA – September 5, 2018 - The Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) Board of Directors congratulates one of its own. UPPCC Board member, Don Buffum, CPPO, was honored by the National Institute for Governmental Procurement, Inc. (NIGP) at its annual Forum & Products Expo in Nashville last month as its newest Albert H. Hall Award recipient.

Established in 1977, the Albert H. Hall Memorial Award is NIGP’s highest award and is named in honor of the organization’s founder, Albert H. Hall. Candidates for the award are nominated based on identified successes in all of the following areas:

  • Innovation in changing procurement concepts and procedures,
  • A clear predominant personal effort without which the contributions would not have been made,
  • Involvement with other levels of government in public procurement programs and objectives, and
  • Is a career public procurement official and active leader in public procurement organizations.

“I am totally humbled to have my name mentioned in the same category as the Albert Hall Fellows that came before me and who I consider to be true legends of our profession. I hope that my impact has been positive and that those in the profession will continue to work together to sustain any progress we have made and continue to add value into the future,” said Buffum.

Buffum joins a special group of accomplished professionals to have both received this award and also to have served on the UPPCC Board of Directors: Paul Brennan, CPPO (2016), Louis Moore, CPPO, CPPB (2013), Darin Matthews, CPPO (2012), Jean Clark, CPPO, CPPB (2011), Rick Berry, CPPO (2010), Norma Hall, CPPO, CPPB (2009), Steve Gordon, CPPO (2006), Jim O’Neil, CPPO (2001), Curtis Walsh, CPPO (1998), and Robert Sheridan, CPPO (1994).

The Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) is an independent entity formed to govern and administer the Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) and Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) certification programs. The CPPO and CPPB programs are highly regarded and respected among procurement professionals and employers involved in the public sector. To date, the UPPCC has certified well over 10,000 professionals primarily within the US and Canada as well as in other nations around the globe.
